Biography

Marie Louise was 20 years old and Jean Francois was 22 years old when they married. He was working on his land. In 1732, they moved to Bay-du-Febvre.

Marie-Louise gives birth in 1733 to Joseph. On 12 February 1734, she authorized with the permission of the Lord Jean-Baptiste Joutra dit DesRosiers, that her husband could sell the land in Neuville. Lots 233 & 234 were sold on 5 March 1734, which was located in the northwest corner of her father, Nicolas Matte’s land (2,1, -1). Jean Francois sold the Neuville land to Noël Pelletier’s son and the Constentineau family established themselves in the seigneury of Bay-du-Febvre.

Bay-du-Febvre is a municipality in Quebec. It is located in NicoletYamaska County in the Centre-du-Québec administrative region. According to the 2011 census there are 1010 inhabitants.

Bay-du-Febvre is located at Highway 132 and the northern end of route 255. But it would be equally fair to say that this municipality is located on the migration route of the snow geese during their spring migration. Bay-du-Febvre is one of Quebec's top birding sites which is demonstrated by the annual return of bird watchers.

Bay-du-Febvre, is fertile land and nourished the farmers who cultivated them for more than 300 years.

The Origins

On September 4, 1683, the sieur Jacques Lefebvre, laborer and resident of Trois-Rivières obtained a concession from Governor Lefebvre de LaBarre, in the seignoiry of Baye-Saint-Antoine. On a map drawn by Champlain in 1632 and another map discovered in the "The Jesuit Relations" the St. Francis River was named St. Antoine. The name spread to the Bay and throughout the region. When Jacques Lefebvre became the owner, the name became and permanently stayed as Bay-duFebvre. At his death in 1720, the seigneury is divided between his heirs and split into several parts which will vary with time and the different owners
