Sainte Catherine de la Jacques Cartier is a territory of 120 square kilometers, The great Jacques-Cartier River crosses that from North to South. Of exceptional beauty, This river offers very good quality water that has made possible the re-establishment of Atlantic salmon. Due to its close proximity to large urban centers, this salmon river is one of the most accessible in Quebec. It is also an excellent river for trout fishing and offers great recreational potential, particularly for those who enjoy canoeing and kayaking.

Thousands of snowmobilers ride the trails maintained by the Jacques-Cartier Snowmobile Club. The municipality is equally involved in the development of cross country skiing and tourism at the Station Duchesnay, located on its territory. The municipality, with the help of its partners, has also built bike paths, which received rave reviews in the leading Quebec newspapers.
